TUNING PIANOS AND PRICING

I use Reyburn software ( see www.reyburn.com ) as does the Sydney conservatorium. It gives you simply the best results.
If you have not heard a piano tuned like this you are in for a very pleasant surprise!

Gone are the sharp basses and flat trebles of old..associated with the old method of tuning. The result of the old system simply tuning the central notes ( one octave ) and then paralleling all other notes right and left of that centre octave into unison ...trouble was it never took into consideration several factors most important of which is String Stretch the other being the pianos design in the overwound thick bass strings which tend to " pull up " sharp.

No more unison tuning "good enough, next one, good enough next" the "guesstimations" of the old days are over. Using Reyburn software all " A " notes are first recorded from which a calculation is made after loading information like " string length " and "the last wound string" . The software can now compensate for string stretch from this individual recording and there by set a "scale" for each individual piano. All individual strings are separately tuned using no unison. The RCT tuning calculation produces a unique scale for each piano with a resulting linear... beautiful accurate tuning...

Each piano is of a different age and condition so tuning prices and service
can vary greatly. Many pianos are getting quite old now and with age comes
fragility and wear so I must be careful with the pin block and not to break strings which
lose elasticity with age.

With tuning I have a saying. "You can't rush an old lady down the stairs."
(as she might sprain an ankle or worse break a leg.. ) With older pianos one needs to be gentle, patient and careful not to break strings.

Prices for tuning can be as low as $50.00 for a touch up tuning. Most pianos are quick and stable.Using "Reyburn Cyber Tuning" ( RCT ) recording and calculation of your piano with exceptional results costing around $175

Older pianos must be checked for cracking to the bridges as to pull a
cracked bridge to concert pitch ( C= 532.23 ) may place undue strain on the bridge causing it to open further and making tuning unstable even impossible.

In these cases and antique pianos, using our Software I can now calculate a tuning to suit
these pianos. This may be from minus 50c to 200c ( % ) of a semitone below concert if required. This exciting developement means the piano will not be under undue strain and in most cases can be successfully preserved in the family. Becoming stable and holding tune, after years of neglect may take two to three tunings in the first year but can thus save a beautiful piano from being discarded.

These older piano tuning jobs are more difficult and take longer and are around $225 a little more for grand piano.
In the worst case some bridges are so badly split or tuning pins so loose that the piano will not ever hold
a proper tune again, and if it is unrepairable I give you notice of this and won't proceed
