Raymond studied piano under Mrs. Mabel Leech. Mabel had met and
studied briefly under the great Franz List. He commenced studies in piano
tuning, making and restoration in Australia at C.H. McFarland Pianos,
Marrickville, in 1970. later doing a short course at the Amsterdam Institute
of Piano Making in Holland.
Working for musical instrument firms such as Wadsworth Stamford and
importers, the great Nicholson's in George St, Sydney and was later owner of Alpine Acoustics, Katoomba, NSW. He was Curator of the
Blue Mountains Stringed Instruments Museum for five years.
